A little clarity
Privacy
Your information helps make Daily View yours. We don’t sell it.
Last updated
Daily View is operated by BRETD Studio. This page explains the information we use to run the service and the choices you have.
What we store
- Your account. Your email address, account creation and last-login dates, and account status. If you use Google sign-in when available, we also receive profile details such as your name and picture, and store information that connects that login to your account.
- Your access. We store account-access settings and status to keep your account working. Daily View is free to use.
- Your Daily View. Sources you follow, items you save, read or hide, reading and playback progress, and preferences such as dark mode and image appearance, setup progress, and dismissed tips.
- Sign-in and technical information. Login verification and session records, including IP address and browser information when available. Our hosting and email services also process technical and delivery logs.
- Optional weather. If you add a US ZIP code during setup or in Settings, we save it to show local weather. Our server sends the ZIP code to Zippopotam.us to find its city and approximate coordinates, then uses those coordinates to request National Weather Service data. These requests do not include your email address or account details. We do not access your device’s location. Clear the ZIP code in Settings to remove this preference and turn weather off.
- Optional Family feed. If you enable this feature, we store its name, selected sources, individually shared and removed posts, and sharing-link settings. Anyone with an active link can view the selected content. Visitors do not need an account; their reading, playback, and Done progress stays in their browser rather than the parent’s account. Pausing sharing or disabling the feature stops access through the link, while retaining the parent’s setup. Shared pages and third-party media still involve the technical requests described on this page.
- Messages you send us. If you contact us, we receive your email address and the information you include so we can respond.
Why we use it
We use this information to sign you in, build your feed, sync your library and preferences, remember where you left off, respond to requests, and keep the service working safely. The administrator can see account information, last-login times, and source counts to manage access and address abuse.
Our private admin Insights view summarizes existing accounts, preferences, source health, and aggregate landing-page traffic. We count each browser once per Central Time day with a first-party cookie containing only the last counted date, and separately total homepage views. We also count source-search outcomes by day to understand failures. These totals do not include submitted links, email addresses, account identifiers, persistent visitor identifiers, or IP addresses, and are not tied to reading history. Daily View does not use third-party analytics.
To separate new arrivals from earlier updates in Today, we keep the latest Today visit time and the previous visit boundary on your account. These two timestamps are replaced as you return; we do not keep a history of visits for this feature.
Daily View uses cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, remember interface choices, support navigation, and remember whether the public homepage has counted your browser that day. Reading and playback positions waiting to sync are also kept in browser storage, separately for each account. These pending positions are removed after syncing and expire after seven days. Clearing browser storage removes any positions that have not synced. Login sessions can last up to 90 days. You can clear this storage in your browser, but doing so may sign you out, reset local preferences, or cause a later homepage visit to be counted again; it does not delete your account.
Reports you choose to send
If you report a problem with a post, we store the post reference, problem category, your optional note, report dates, and its resolution status with your account. The admin can see your report and account email to investigate. Reports are removed from the active database when your account is deleted.
What we don’t do
We do not sell or rent your personal information, or use your reading and listening activity for targeted advertising. We do not add advertising trackers or third-party audience-analytics tools to Daily View. External media providers have their own privacy practices.
Your choices & account deletion
You can manage followed sources, saved items, and appearance preferences in the app. We retain account information and saved activity while your account is open; stopping use of the app does not automatically delete it.
Export your sources and saved links, or delete your account, in Settings → Account. To ask about your information, request a correction, or get help with account deletion, email brett@bretd.studio. For account requests, please write from the address you use to sign in so we can verify the request.
When we delete your account, we remove its profile, linked login accounts, sessions, followed-source links, saved-item records, progress, settings, access records, and service-message records from the active database. Shared source feeds and articles remain available to other users. Separate login verification records, email delivery records, operational logs, and backups may remain under the relevant systems’ retention practices; account deletion does not instantly erase every copy.
You may have additional privacy rights depending on where you live. Contact us with any questions or requests.
If our practices change, we’ll update this page and its date. We’ll provide additional notice where required.
